  1. Last minute change in plans has me in Hartford for Thanksgiving.  My wife went to UConn and it would be fun for her me to see us whip on the Huskies.  Can I still get tickets through USF?
  2. I like this new tradition. Many other teams do this as well. It would be great if the team could sing the fight song or something to the students after every game and not just wins.
  3. Just so you don't get confused I believe it is the Gecko's on SR 64 not the one on SR 70.
  4. I guess he had to lie about that Master's degree, because he sure isn't intelligent.
  5. Well we know who is going to wear the pants in that marriage. Do women schedule weddings during football season on purpose?
  6. I think the 12 game season becomes permanent starting next season.
  7. Isn't the World University Games going on at the same time? We may have a split squad or this could have been the B team. Also don't forget that there are some rule changes between the US game and the international game.
  8. I thought Blackwell had a strong arm. I can't remember who we were playing but MB was being dragged down and still threw a smoking 50yd pass on a rope that went through the receivers hands in the endzone. I was pretty impressed with his arm strenght.
  9. If an 8 team or more playoff ever happens (very unlikely but a 4 team maybe) you would want to play games at the higher seeded teams home. Too much travel for fans. A lot of bowls struggle to sell all their tickets and making fans travel 3 or more weekends is kind of unrealistic ($$). Again adding playoff games will take attention away from bowl games and bowl games will start to go away. We thought it sucked when we didn't go a couple of years ago, how about not going bowling if we went 8-3 in the Big East and their was no bowl game to go to. I can see an additional game being added. I for one would rather see that happen and college football keep the bowl game traditions alive. Take attention away from bowl games and fans start to lose interest in them.
  10. Right now about 56-58 teams make the post season. Any playoff beyond 4 teams will significantly reduce the # of bowl games and # of teams playing in the post season. Forget New Years Day with a full slate of games. That would suck! I think part of the reward for teams and fans are all the bowl game festivities that go on the week of the game. Those go away for the teams in the playoff. Really all that is needed is to rotate among the BCS bowls 2 games and then add a championship game. Seed the top 4 and the winners play each other. This will at least keep the bowl traditions alive. Some of the bowls have a tough enough time getting tickets sold and tv viewers to watch. Adding playoff games every week would be the kiss of death to the bowl games. This would affect USF in a negative way. You think their would still be a bowl game for the 3rd place finisher in the Big East? Think again. If we finished 3rd we would be sitting at home ******** about the playoff system that ruined the bowl system.
  11. I think we already hit the growth spurt and now we need to grow into our bodies. From nothing to I-AA to I-A to CUSA to Big East all in only 8 seasons!
  12. If/when baseball does not work out for RJ, he may may re-sign with USF (see FSU - Chris Wienke). If we told him no upfront he goes to another school instead because they built a relationship and loyalty.
  13. I remember the bad passes but it seemed like there were a lot of dropped passes that killed drives also. Wasn't always the QB's fault.
  14. This happens with every program in the country. Do we view ourselves as above the other 119+/- D-IA programs?
  15. Do women have to sit out a year? I thought men's football and basketball transfers were the only transfers who had to sit out a year.
  16. This topic has been moved to [link=http://www.thebullspen.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl?board=ce9876;action=display;num=1115236502;start=0]The Mad Cow Lounge[/link] by Bulliever.
  17. The problem with that plan is the every week travel required of each winning team's fans. Tough to sell tickets that way. I personally like the plus one idea. Take the top 4 teams and let them play each other in one of the 4 BCS bowls and then have one extra game. If more teams are involved the only way it would work with full stadiums would be to have the higher seeded team host until the final. The problem here would be the near elimination of the bowl system. That is why I say keep the bowls the way they are and just add one extra game.
  18. People get to leave work at 5? How do I get one of those jobs? Except for our $10/hr receptionists nobody here leaves that early. Besides our downtown target market is more likely to be a young to middle aged male professional who typically goes to happy hour and other sporting events at the Palace like the Lightning. I notice a large number of downtown workers at Lightning games.
  19. I think it is a good idea for maybe one or two week night games. You bring in a UConn on a Thursday night and I am willing to bet that quite a few downtown workers will stick around to check it out. It's about building the program right now. It's not about home court advantage, it's about building recognition for USF and the Big East. The best way to do that is get people, who normally don't make the trek to campus, to hang around after work and walk over to the arena. Long term they need to do the renovations to the dome and then move these games back to campus, unless we bring in 18,000 fans to a game then it's a no brainer to keep these games at the forum.
