  1. I think they require a "professionally built" float. How do they determine who are professional float builders?
  2. They could have had the Do Something phrase with a classy picture of Dr King's face and it would have been OK. Photoshopping Dr King doing the tomahawk chop is where they went wrong.
  3. The stumbling block is the $1 million dollar liability insurance and the costs for a professionally built float.
  4. The Rays have done this before. I forget if they did this before or after Sternberg bought the team. I think they just want the stadium to look full on TV and cut the operating costs of running the upper deck. Selling more expensive seats is just a bonus. Should USF open the upper deck at RJS as well?
  5. It will cost more and take longer to do it in phases. It will also slow down fundraising if they only build part of it. We would look real stupid if we only built part of it and never got enough funds to complete the whole project.
  6. UCF lost. They were never in the game. They can go slob a knob, but they were a paper "champion". LOL.
  7. 24 -14. LOL. Nitro better hope he wore his kevlar butt shield. LOL.
  8. Right now UCF is getting mauled by the LSU Tigers. I would like the AAC to prove that it is legit, but when it comes to UCF, meh....
  9. A win is a win is a win. 10-2 is a good place to be right now.
  10. Their fans were just a notch below WVU fans. So many of them were hillbilly goobers. I overheard some of their conversations in the parking lot, but repeating them would send this thread to the Mad Cow Lounge.
  11. Back in the 80s when UM won a few national championships, a large number of people wanted to go to UM just because of that. One year their dorms were so overfilled that they housed students in a near by hotel. Maybe back when that movie came out, yes. Now, not so much.
  12. Because people have nothing better than complain (wanted to use the B word) on the internet. How about call someone at USF? Nope? Send then a nasty tweet. That is the passive aggressive way to handle it.
  13. I saw that, and now I am more inclined to just buy tickets directly from the Gasparilla Bowl website instead of from USF. USF is charging $85 for the tickets, and if those are corner seats I would be pissed off about that. They did the same thing for the MagicJack Bowl that we went to years ago. I can pay $85 and get club access seats, or $65 and still get good lower level sideline seats. Or I can go cheap and get $25 endzone seats.
  14. You can get cheaper tickets directly from the bowl website. USF is charging $85, and they do not say what section. I do not know why USF does that, or if other schools do that as well. For all we know, they may stick those tickets in the corners like they did for that MagicJack Bowl years ago in the Trop. https://www.gasparillabowl.com/tickets/
  15. He does have good inside sources. I hated seeing his smug face on ESPN when he worked there, especially when he put his kid on TV. We get it dude, you procreated just like billions of other people. Every parent should be proud of their kid, but it does not mean that you should put them on TV for that "awe how cute" factor.
  16. I guess no one remembers that embarrassing Sun Bowl game. CJL was completely outcoached in that game. I am surprised Oregon hired him as an assistant after the drubbing Oregon gave USF in that bowl game.
  17. I thought everyone here hated that moustached moron. He sure had an axe to grind against USF when he worked in Tampa.
  18. A lot of the FBS teams in the P5 get screwed too, but they are raking in the cash, so they do not complain. Why is it that the NCAA basketball tournament is so much fun for so many schools and so many fans, while the NCAA bowl season is only fun for the same 5 - 6 teams?
  19. That is the point. The game is rigged in their favor. Why should they benefit just on their school's name while other schools have to prove it with their schedule?
  20. Leavitt also had the knack for recruiting a few trouble makers. I distinctly remember one Brainiac who kept getting arrested for driving without a valid drivers license. The reason his drivers license was not valid was because he was not paying child support. I wish I could remember his name, but I think he might have been a backup QB? There were a few others with various legal issues, and the overall GPA of the football team was lower during Leavitt's tenure. It is legitimate to criticize Holtz on his on the field record, but he did get the team GPA up, and that continued under Taggart and Strong.
  21. I am disappointed in his coaching this year. The offensive play was poor and the defensive play was pathetic for a so-called defensive minded head coach. That being said, I would not be surprised if he is still the head coach next year, especially if he coaches and wins the bowl game. I have no insider information on the locker room chemistry, nor do I want to speculate on the mood of the players. All I know is the view point of the typical fan, and not the hard core fans who read every and anything posted online. However, USF finally added season ticket holders this year after years of declining sales. If the season ticket holders and boosters make a big stink now, it might sway the athletics VP to make a move now if he is teetering on what to do with Strong.
  22. USF will play the bowl game and will not decline the invitation. The athletics department will not allow that, and I doubt the AAC would allow it. It would look bush league and childish to decline a bowl invitation. After all, the team is not run by a bunch of passionate fans on a bulletin board.
