  1. He was most certainly given a fair chance. He wasn't hired to come in and rebuild a program. I know what you mean about it making sense for his family to say that, but I just think it's a funny take, especially considering it was behind closed doors. I think "it just didn't work out" is a more realistic take on it. But like you said, they are his family and it makes sense for them to support him.
  2. Heard something funny about Strong this weekend. His family and friends think he wasn't given a fair chance at USF lol. He had the most prolific QB in USF history (arguably) and couldn't win the conference, then ended up coaching the first team in college football history to start 7-0 and not win another game for the rest of the season after that. He quite literally regressed every year and could never get an offense fluently established here.
  3. I think they still kept it on the DL for the football hiring as well. This was one of the most tight-lipped hiring processes I remember from USF. All of the crazy Deion talk was from people who always acted like they were “in the know” but in reality had no idea. We interviewed Deion, but I don’t think we really know much more than that.
  4. Pretty sure he was in the running and now you can get rid of any realistic talk about him coming here lol. He’ll have much better opportunities than USF.
  5. Is this like when Sanders was coming and it was a done deal? edit: oh. I see who posted this.
  6. While I understand and agree with the sentiment, Northeastern isn’t a bad team at all this year.
  7. For sure, but I expected them to be much better last season and build off the momentum. We also got hot at the right time in the tournament year and had a less than mediocre season prior, but really that's all that matters in the end.
  8. You don't even need to show a full turnaround that quickly. You need to show progress, and baseball, basketball, and football have all regressed.
  9. What do you expect? Roster turnover is bound to happen in a coaching change and in today's times it's going to be much different that it used to be, especially coming from a team that is used to losing. Some of these guys just want to win immediately and found their way out. We'll probably lose more but it's unrealistic to think that this new staff is just going to sit on their hands while this happens. We will be fine. It might not seem like it right now, but let things play out.
  10. Nay’Quan Wright might be a name to keep an eye on. He's got an OV scheduled I believe and his former teammate who just transferred to USF responded to one of his tweets. https://twitter.com/HimsoHam/status/1612941583229370370?s=20&t=2vFhcKW50l8uzjFvKlMy3A
  11. With him and all the past talk of Gruden we really are missing a golden opportunity to become the moral standard of college athletics
  12. I see what you mean. We saw how well hiring an OC worked for us last time. I blame the Kiffin issue on past admin, though. It’s asinine to take Strong over Kiffin. I’m fairly certain we would have gotten Kiffin had we actually tried.
  13. I do think Herman was a good hire for FAU. He has very few ties to Florida, though. Golesh at least has better history recruiting here.
  14. Who are we realistically going to get that’s a “splash” hire? He might not be everyone’s top choice but he’s not a bad hire at all. It seems like a lot of us have forgetting that we’re a g5 team in a conference that just got raided for better teams while we look through the window in last place. Golesh helped orchestrate the number one offense in the country and has a resume that’s a lot more versatile than being a good ole boy under only one head coach.
  15. Battie possibly out. https://twitter.com/battie941/status/1610697476729618435?s=20&t=7uySO4sRkSGTI7-POnZKbg
  16. Yeah. It's also pretty wild to think that opposing teams' home field advantage is a natural mound.
  17. No idea about that, but would love to see a giant iconic U in center field.
  18. On top of that it's at our field, which means they're going to play a good portion, likely most to all, of their away games on a natural mound. Not the adjustment you want to make for half a season.
  19. For tonight’s game. Does anyone have 1-2 extra?
  20. Kevin Patrick, Alex Golesh, and Daniel Da Prato? For sure, all mysteries.
  21. I listened to this as well and it only reaffirmed my content with this hire. Absolutely love the start this guy is having. To be fair about him saying he saw our film, he mentioned that he saw us when he was watching film prepping for the Florida game since Tennessee played them the week after we did, so it’s not really related to him watching film after he was hired as HC. He said he had no idea how we ended up being a 1 win team, but now that he’s here he understands why and what wasn’t working. Thought that was an interesting/great comment that shows he’s trying to get to the bottom of things. He also mentioned that he really enjoys the fact that he can come in and be the coach of a previous 1 win team, and how it’s exciting to be part of the rebuild. He’s saying all the right things and is surrounding himself with the right people. Excited to see what he can get done on the field.
