  1. I’m not sure UConn would leave the Big East for the ACC. It won’t be just FSU and Clemson leaving. The only leftovers would likely be Wake, BC, Syracuse.
  2. Ok, we’ll see! It’s it worth arguing over. Just glad it’s happening.
  3. We’ll see but you can look at the jobs the builder has done already and get a sense for what they do. Their designs don’t look like snapdragon or canvas stadium. They’re much lighter in scale with more modern lines with smaller capacity and tend to have certain elements akin to international/soccer stadiums, like seating/standing sections etc. I appreciate what you’re doing I think expectations need to be recentered though. Think of a cross between MLS and FAU…
  4. It’s going to look a lot like the Orlando city soccer stadium, but without the soccer elements. That’s the design/build team.
  5. Is it me or is the financing a little creative at times? I worry about aspects of it but as long as it gets done idc.
  6. According to fpi we should expect wins over Navy, Rice, Temple, FAMU, and charlotte. There are 29 preseason teams rated worse than us in college football and we play 5 of them. We were given a gift of a schedule. This is the year to make things happen.
  7. Likely no to the money (mid term) and yes to the exposure. The debt service is going to be such that it will be nearly impossible not to lose money on it for the first several years. But.. hopefully it increases the overall budget so that it’s worthwhile to increase debt. Unpopular opinion alert but I actually like the central fl stadium model for us right now. They minimized debt and maximized leverage. They’re easy to make fun of but it worked perfectly for them.
  8. The students might be split on the ocs but it’s clear that the oracle is firmly against it based on their reports on it over the years. I hate the oracle.
  9. Oh I agree the price is in line with actual costs today for what we’re looking for. What I’m saying is take the list of what people are looking for that was circulating a few pages back and basically cross off all those items and circle back with with the Tulane or fau scale of project…this is the likely path from here. We aren’t getting a stadium with 400mil-type amenities even with donors contributing way more than they have already.
  10. $400m is not practical. There are not enough potential revenue streams to cover the easily 30m+/year debt service. Interest rates are climbing as well. This feels like window service. I would expect some time to pass then an amended recommendation for something closer to half that price.
  11. I think we do, just have a feeling expectations will be different this time next year.
  12. Well tbh I don’t twitter either but do remember there being a pretty big study/survey of schools involved in realignment that looked at social media engagement and they did well on it so I assumed it was still the case. I don’t really remember Twitter being really that huge until the mid 2010’s anyway…
  13. I think their large fanbase size is related to their OCS and overall gameday culture much more so than winning. Sure, it helps….and losing doesn’t. Their student section is larger than most B12 schools entire enrollments, it’s only getting bigger each year and their alumni are young and invested. We can do all that too but it won’t be accomplished by winning three aac championships in a row, it’ll happen by students walking to the games, participating in the experience, creating new traditions, and building memories that will pass down. We’re probably 12+ years from that the moment the stadium opens…and I mean that in a good way.
  14. I think there’ll be many sec teams in but the big 10 needs to step up their game, they have big names/branding but I don’t see them getting more than 2 into the playoff with how poor they play lately. Maybe 3 if pedo state only loses to Michigan and Ohio state. The big 12 is a better football playing conference than the big 10 these days.
  15. I think this is by design. Tbh I want to play the 7 weakest teams possible next season. That’s not going to be Tulane or ecu.
  16. Unfortunately not. They are the runaway best basketball conference and were the second best football conference last season and that doesn’t look to change soon as while the Big 10 has better ‘branding’ they just really don’t play good football outside of 2 or 3 schools any given year.
  17. Just my opinion and not directed at you necessarily but sometimes people conflate giving a ‘pass’ with reserving judgement. CJS earned reserving judgement for a while due to things beyond his control like Covid and poor leadership above him but we’ve eclipsed that point in the timeline and it’s clear that he should be given no pass as he is just not a good coach. But yes let’s look forward, our fanbase looks backward a little much and think it clouds judgement.
  18. Some Iowa State guy started it, it looks like. Basically said, I’ve heard about the mafia let’s get it.. No excusing their behavior but they gave him what he asked. Whats worse is that a not so small contingency of our fans tried to insert themselves and made us look bad, the there was a point where the Texas Tech Twitter crew asked who won the Twitter battle between central and Iowa state, byu, and USF in a poll and despite being ganged up on they ended up (barely) pulling out the win over everyone in the poll and now the Texas Tech board is writing about how impressive their fan base is and saying how exciting their add is to the conference..so while we know they are terrible they are winning the perception war.
  19. I guess depending on the definition of near future. The next round of realignment where the ACC fades away won’t be for another 10-12 years but once it comes there is zero chance that the SEC won’t grab the Florida schools (Florida has more BIG 10 alumni than any other state) for competitive advantages and Clemson. UVA, UNC, GT and maybe Duke fit the culture of the Big 10 perfectly and would get significant raises, open new markets for the big 10, and get them into coveted southern areas. Yormark from the Big12 will satisfy the promises made to WVU to complete an eastern wing and the new ACC won’t be able to compete with big 12 contract status with its best schools gone so the remaining football schools will probably shift following the money which is the only opportunity left for a raise, leaving the bottom feeders previously mentioned. The ACC is not a desirable landing point anymore. Also, the PAC can’t even get anyone to offer them a media deal. They literally have no existence beyond the next 16 months as of right now. They are nothing more than an intramural league until someone decides to pay them after next season. Not only are they not taking anyone from the big 12 but they’re probably losing at the minimum Arizona and Utah once it becomes painfully clear Washington and Oregon won’t sign a GOR.
  20. I mean the only teams likely left in the future ACC would be wake, Syracuse, BC….and maybe nc state? I could see the SEC grabbing them if UNC goes to the big 10 though. What I’m on has nothing to do with it unfortunately, that’s not enough for a conference, much less being better than an aac that has stability and access to the playoffs. Some of the leftovers might dip out of conference affiliated football altogether and jump to big east for Bball only too, namely BC and Syracuse. Sadly the ACC is on life support.
  21. I would not say an ACC without Miami, fsu, Clemson, UNC, and potentially others is as good as the American. Once those schools go the SEC there’s nothing stopping VT, Pitt, and Louisville joining the Big12 and forming an eastern division with Cincy and WVU. The ACC is screwed more than the PAC and the PAC is f@&?ed.
  22. It wouldn’t surprise me if he was involved. He was a finalist for the Georgia Tech job and is probably on Cincinnati’s list as well.
