Here is a strange stat that I came across about our pitching staff in conference.  Out of our 10 conference victories, only one win is credited with a starting pitcher.  It tells me we play alot of tight games in the AAC, and also it tells me our bullpen has been a huge strength for us all season.  Here's the breakdown of wins:

Ryan Valdes- 4

Mark Savarese- 2

Andrew Perez- 2

Joe Cavallero- 1

Phoenix Sanders-1

A negative spin on that would be that our starting pitching isn't nearly as good as they looked to begin the year.

Valdes might've started one of those victories. He at least was "acting starter" against Memphis(?) when Shane went down in the first, but your point stands. Every game has been tight, but you're right if the starters faultered the relievers were able to hold the fort down while the bats woke up.

Shane did start so it is a relief appearance.  Phoenix was the only one that actually started and earned a victory.

Or that our conference opponents are significantly better than our OOC opponents.

Lets make that 11 Conference Wins, and still only 1 win from a starter.  Shane pitched his best game of the year tonight, so its not his fault...blown save by Valdes.

Yeah that was tough to watch happen. I get they were trying to save Joe C and AP, but Valdes didn't have it. He kept giving up long fly balls and there was almost another solo shot that the wind kept in. Shane was on fire all night up nail he give up his homer. Wonder if Joe is available today.

Pete S earned the victory today, so now its 2 wins by starters (out of 12 total wins).  Still a strange stat.
