TAMPA (March 30, 2015)— Senior Buddy Putnam was named a Louisville Slugger National Player of the Week by Collegiate Baseball after his outstanding performance at the plate over the last week.

The honor is the first national player of the week honor for any player in the history of the program and just the second national honor since Ryan Lockwood was named a Freshman Player of the Year in 2008.

Putnam’s week began at FGCU on Tuesday as he hit two home runs, drove in the tying run and scored the winning run in an 8-7 victory. On Sunday, Putnam hit his first career grand slam for the walk off win against Cincinnati in the series finale. The senior also homered earlier in the game for his second multiple-home run game of the week, finishing with seven RBI on the day.

Putnam now leads the team with six home runs and has had four in the last week. Out of his seven hits over the last four games, six were extra-base hits. Putnam is batting .438 (7-for-16) over the last four games with eight runs on seven hits and 10 RBI.

The Bulls are back in action at Stetson Tuesday, March 30, at 6:30 p.m. USF will return to conference play on the road at UConn beginning Thursday, April 2.
