Yeah, when I saw that game I was thinking what the heck is wrong with the ref and MLS? Do they seriously want to discourage exciting moments in the game!! For most Americans, it doesn't come around often (meaning goals), so milk it when it occurs, and let them have their fun and celebration.

 

For the record, I am a big soccer fan (first generation Portuguese-American) so I don't fall under the category of goals being the only exciting moments in games.

I really doubt the MLS had anything to do with the card.  That was purely a judgement call on the part of the ref.  On the other hand, someone in the MLS office has been drafting a memo to provide "celebration guidelines" for two days.

There's a (semi-pro?) club in Iceland that has made an art-form of celebrating goals. Very creative!
