Canes are 7-3, and headed to a bowl for the first time in 3 years...but if you flip over to their game v Virginia, I'd be stunned if attendance is >10,000.  Looks more like 5,000, honestly.

My point is, with the exception if UF and FSU, Florida fans are fickle and fair weather, and when the product tapers off, the fans leave in droves.  When UM was undefeated, they had decent crowds.  Now, with a 3 game slid and Duke Johnson out for the year, fans are GONE.

So, I suspect, USF fans are dormant during this period, but if CWT and the gang can field a better product, the stands will gradually fill up.

Side note:  man, I wish we played UM late Nov instead of late Sept.  They are a shell of what they were when we played them, and teams are just wearing them out with the run.

Pouring down rain there too. Not defending it though. Their attendance always stinks because they have no alumni in the area. All they have are wannabe gangsters and hood rats

The fans are fickle at FSU too. We just forget that because they have been winning, especially this year. 2009 and how we got 12k fans into Doak is a good example.

Agree though that Tampa loves a winner. When the product on the field improves, we'll begin to grow as a fan base then.

and it's not limited to college football.  Pro teams are VERY vulnerable to fan apathy.

For the Canes, at least when they were in the Orange Bowl, thug fans could find a way to get to the stadium.  Now, they need reliable transportation.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
