Our football coach just got fired and our basketball team is about I play a ranked team on Wednesday and you want to talk about our baseball coach in November?

Prado gets this season to right the ship. But after seeing the events unfold today, that dugout bench just got a whole lot warmer. I was actually thinking this earlier today. Funny you brought this up. He hasn't had any great seasons thus far. Mostly average ones. But in his defense he hasn't come close to the last two putrid seasons that Holtz has had. I still support the Coach and the baseball team....Hoping for good things in 2013!

From what I understand about Prado's recruiting, his problem is his inability to expand beyond local schools. At least that's what i have gathered from a few members on the board.

Coaching wise Prado is OK, but the team usually suffers from some kind of setback in the rotation every season and the bats dry up at the absolute worst times. The guy isn't inept, but baseball has been consistently mediocre.

Regarding recruiting ... I hear he doesn't recruit the area good enough. Only Jesuit ...

The problem with his recruiting is the talented guys that are interested usually end up getting selected high in the MLB draft. High enough to not want to come to USF. The secondary recruits are good but not great. The biggest problem I've seen is the lack of any dominant hitters. We don't have a deep lineup with power. Normally its one guy and alot of slap hitters. It always seems like we have the smallest lineup in the Big East. Normally I wouldn't mind this if these guys could get on base more often, but they don't. So its way too much small ball for me. The pitching has been the strong part of the teams in recent years. Injuries happen and we've had our share, but the lack of power is the one obvious thing over the last 5 years that is missing.

He does have a pipeline from Jesuit though. I think there are 2 more coming in this year....

Unfortunately 14th pick from 2010 MLB Draft signed with Marlins and was named to 2012 Futures game.....
