East Carolina to hire S. Carolina assistant Stokes

East Carolina will hire South Carolina assistant Ricky Stokes to replace Bill Herrion as men's basketball coach, the Associated Press learned Wednesday.

Stokes is the former coach of Virginia Tech and played at Virginia under Terry Holland, now the athletic director at East Carolina.

Stokes was an assistant to South Carolina coach Dave Odom at Wake Forest from 1989-97, and spent four seasons coaching the Hokies. He led Virginia Tech to a 46-69 record from 1999-03.

Whatever you may think of USF's coaches in various sports, at least they all have qualifications other than being the Athletic Director's buddy.

Greenville is two for two.  They lose to USF in football and hire a South Carolina retread (Skippy) to coach football.  Then USF beats 'em twice in hoops so they fire the hoops coach just to pick up another South Carolina retread.  Do they not know that they are located in North Carolina?   [smiley=blockhead.gif]

Oh well, those retreads should do well in CDOA, the conference that neglects millions of dollars with the lack of a signature.
