If you are looking for any hints as to what Lake Wales (Fla.) guard Marcel White is going to do for his college decision, odds are in favor of him staying in state for school.

His case is one of the more interesting cases in the class of 2012. The swingman is garnering interest from high majors such as Alabama, Florida State and South Florida. Yet the forward is also considering the likes of JMU and Florida Gulf Coast.

“Right now I’m considering FSU, JMU, USF, and Florida-Gulf coast.†White said. “They all stick out to meâ€

All of those schools make sense for White, yet it might come down to just JMU and FGCU. Mike Fly was the coach recruiting White at FSU before he left for FGCU with Andy Enfield.

“I want to go to a place where I can win and get playing time right away,†said White said.

Again, the smaller schools would seem to provide a better place for those things, yet Florida State can’t be counted out by any means. The Seminoles have taken players like White and gotten the most out of them before, something that must interest the wing. USF should also not be counted out, as they are doing a fantastic job recruiting early on this year.

So what kind of player is White? He can shoot from 15 feet and in, put the ball on the floor, and is a great passer. He also is a great defender who is active both when guarding his man and as a weak side defender. There has been some criticism that sometimes he isn’t aggressive enough for someone of his skillset. Yet there is no denying that he can be a great player at the next level, especially if he ends up at one of the smaller schools he is looking at.

So where will White end up? We are bound to find out soon, as he said that he might make a decision within a month or so. He could be a difference maker for FGCU or JMU and would be a solid addition at the high major level.

White is looking for an up-tempo team that will give him a chance to play immediately as well as a good academic fit

Can lightning strike twice with like it did with another Lake Wales product in Dominique Jones?

Well USF will probably have early playing time for him if he is interested. With Robertson being a senior and Rudd not claiming the position, the #3 spot should be wide open.

You firgure the Bulls will have a few wings/swingmen in Hawkins and Abdul-Aleem.

You will still have Rudd. Martino Brock will also be eligible coming in as a junior.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
