I just watched this video about BGSU's new basketball facility and wondered what it would take for our marketing department to produce a similar video promoting USF's environment with the same bravado? This is a real nice production IMO.

It's not a matter of being inspired. The entire athletic department is a culture of play it safe. They purposely discourage things like this. I've seen them shoot down designs because they have a skull or a saying that is aggressive toward the other team.

Their idea of marketing is people flashing the bulls sign and unBULLievable puns. Hell, there's plenty of students in our own marketing and advertising program that could come up with some great ideas just for something to put in their portfolio.

The athletics department is more concerned with securing corporate sponsors than with anything else. I'm tired of the game being interrupted after every play with reminders about Verizon, Allstate, Papa Johns, Kanes, etc. Sure, we need the money, but I don't see anywhere near the effort going into the fan experience.

USF marketing is a joke. Period. Probably has to do with a lack of funds as well as playing it safe.

But that BGSU video was amazing.

But yeah, the Bull puns are really old. I have also noticed the signs along the walls along the field at Ray Jay are basically all corporate sponsors. Look at any other stadium, and they have stuff relating to the school. Watching the UConn game last week, in front of their student section they have "Welcome to the Dog Pound". The Carolina Panthers have the coolest IMO,
