In all the hype over the conference realignment this week, we've hardly discussed UConn. Hard to believe we have a game this week in the middle of all this madness.

That said, here's what's important for this week.

1. Don't underestimate the UConn offense. We struggled two weeks ago with a small back who could disappear behind his line. We face a similar threat this week in Lyle McCombs. He doesn't have Graham's pass catching skills, but our defensive line needs to get good penetration and the linebackers have hopefully learned better tackling in the last two weeks or McCombs could run all over us en route to another high scoring affair. Not only that, Johnny McEntee has come on stronger the past three weeks. I thought his work against Buffalo and Western Michigan might have been a fluke, but he played mistake-free football against WVU, though he's not good enough to win the game on his own.

2. Start fast. The UConn defense hasn't been able to stop the pass this season, especially in the second half. Jump out to a 10-14 lead in the first half and UConn will be forced to turn to McEntee. It helps that McCombs isn't a big pass catcher. If there was a day for B.J. Daniels to throw for 350 yards and 3-4 scores, this would be that day.

3. Get good field position. kickoff coverage was better against Pitt, significantly better. We'll have to keep it that way for our defense to have a chance. On the returning game, Lamar is going to need to have a big afternoon-our field position hasn't been quite as good this season as last year.

I agree, not much UConn talk.  Hard to explain consindering we haven't beaten them up there the last 3 times.  I like the way we ran the ball vs Pitt, so hopefully that continues.  If it does, BJ will have a good day throwing.  On Defense, we have to win 1st down and get UConn in predictable 2nd and 3rd down situations.  And we definitely need to get off the field to keep our D as fresh as can be.  I don't want to watch another tired defense on the road.  If these things happen I like our chances to win by 10 plus on the road.  If a few of these things don't happen it will be an ugly game where we could lose at the end.  Hope its the former.

Go Bulls, Beat Huskies!

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
