If I remember correctly, the Pink Floyd shows were under two different directors. Also, I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong but I believe that the band members choose the shows from a group of options so the Floyd shows were the choice of two different sets of students.

Not sure what the procedure was or has been, but in my year in HOT we were told of the shows on the day of our first meeting.  Not sure if director gave leadership students the options to choose from or what, but thats what I remember.

I hope this is true, our marching band here sucks. So much so, a University committee, led by the PRESIDENT OF THE UNIVERSITY was formed to make suggestions for its' improvements (goes to show how seriously they take football here). The marching band improved immensely from when I was in it ('04 and '05) to when I was watching it the last three years of my undergrad.
