The Marlins have won the World Series 2 times in the 17 years they have been around. Thats about 12% of the time they have fielded a team they have won it all.

You will find very few teams that can say the same. Maybe the Yankees, Celtics, and Lakers.

Worst organization ownership in sports

They are lucky they have the brilliance of Larry Beinfest, otherwise, you may have a point.

The problem is they are a bunch of cheap bastards, but that poses the question are they not shelling out payroll because people aren't attending or are people not attending because they are not bankrolling a big name roster. Which came first?

attendance has never been great, they won it all in 97 and sold off the whole team which put a bad taste in peoples mounths.

Different ownership. Huizenga had that block buster and waste-management-mafioso-money to burn, and a reputation in South Florida to maintain.

yet, the Yanks, Celts or Lakers never have attendance problems

ironically the Marlins also fill baout 12% of their stadium.  who woulda thought.

That's in the eye of the beholder .... Aren't the Yankees the most storied franchise in the history of professional sports? They should sell out EVERY game yet they don't. 27K people per square mile in NYC yet they haven't had a sold out year in the last decade where other, smaller markets have. Not the same type problem as down here but a problem none the less ... Maybe problem is the wrong word there, though ... More like a reflection that NY fans aren't all some people make them out to be.  ::)

i dont look up the numbers but al i know is every yankee game i ever been to was packed, no matter what day, what team, what time.

you are aware there are 2 major league teams in NYC right?  So I guess you can cut the population in half.
