The Hurricanes need Hill in light of last week's decision by quarterback Derek Shaw (Oceanside, Calif.) to back out of his commitment to Miami. That leaves UM with only two quarterbacks on the roster -- and no commitments from QB recruits -- two weeks before national signing day. Last weekend Hill visited South Florida, where he had committed in the fall. But his coach, Jeff Schaum, said the Hurricanes have about a "50-50" chance of signing the quarterback. Hill will visit UM this weekend. "It's between USF and Miami, but Miami is Miami," Schaum said of Hill, who passed for 1,764 yards and 20 touchdowns and rushed for 888 yards and 12 touchdowns. "He committed to South Florida early on because they really need a quarterback, but Miami's always been in the picture, and they have always been recruiting him as a quarterback. He's got the tools to be an outstanding one." While playing both quarterback and receiver Hill was named the offensive MVP of Miami's camp last summer, which featured a number of the nation's top athletes, including Shaw. The Hurricanes landed two commitments from last week's visits:Iowa offensive lineman Matt Pipho and New Jersey defensive tackle Luqman Abdallah bring Miami's commitment total to 14.  http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/sfl-umfoot18jan18,0,2046596.story?col l=sfla-sports-headlines

Nothing better in their eyes then sending a player to one of the bigtime U's to play. They hope for that little bit of glory they'll get out of it.For a HS HC to say "Miami is Miami" is actually quite pitiful, and tacty. That sounds like the HC in the "Johnny Be Good" movie. How about a little discretion coach, this is a kid's life you're dealing with not which team your going to lay $50 on with your bookie. Miami is Miami, and USF is USF, and UCF is UCF, kid's go to certain schools for a lot of different reasons, HC's should help them weigh the options, and reasons not look him in the eye and say "Hey, Miami is Miami." Man, i know many HS HC that would want to punch this dude in the mouth for such a careless statement. This isn't his decision, he's just lucky the Hill Family is letting him even be a tiny part of it. His best plan would be to shut-the-hell-up, tell everyone the usual "....we'll know after he's gone on all his visits and we've had a chance to sit down and weigh all the options and compare...." Hey Coach, Jefferson County will always be Jefferson County, enjoy it because you'll probably be there for a while.

S.bien summed it up better than me - I was a little defensive. But that's it - the writer for Miami talks to a coach that wants some pub off of Hill's abilitiies. Shameful. Not to defend the guy, or anything.
