It's a support thing, keeps the tendons from flexing the wrong way. Helps prevent injuries.

What Is A Knee Band?

Knee Bands or Straps are devices that focus compression on the patellar tendon to help decrease the stress at the tibial tubercle.  This stress is the cause of many orthopedic conditions including  Patella Tendonitis (jumper's knee/runner's knee) and Osgood Schlatter's disease.  Most knee bands are a one size fits most.

I think Arm Bands that the football players are wearing are dangerous...  I know if I was a coach I would not want my player wearing them...
