Out of all the candidates, Pitt and Nebraska will compete in football. Missouri could be decent, mid-pack. Rutgers and Syracuse would be bottom feeders.

In basketball, Pitt, Syracuse, and Missouri will be pretty good. Nebraska and Rutgers, not so much.

Why are they so hyped on RU again? LOL I guess the NYC market will be there to watch MI, Penn State and Ohio State more than they will be to watch Rutgers lose.

How many Big East titles have Pitt, Syracuse, and Rutgers won?

Please, those teams aren't exactly tearing up the BE now.  So they'll have a new conference in which to finish 4th.

Syracuse and Pitt have won a few BE basketball championships.  Syracuse had a couple BE football championships.  Rutgers, not so much.  A Rutgers move  to the Big Ten is all about TV market.

rutgers is 4-1 against pitt, uconn, USF, syracuse since the last realignment.  3-2 vs louisville, 1-4 vs cincinnati, and 0-4 vs WVU.  that's good for the 3rd most conference wins in that time frame.  what makes you think pitt would do better in the big 10 than RU?
