Former USF receiver Jessie Hester has a chance to become the seventh Bulls player matched with an NFL team this week, as he's been invited to participate in the Lions' rookie minicamp on Thursday.

"They're very excited about him," his agent, Butch Williams, said Saturday night. "He's got a chance to show them something, and I'm hoping it will work out for him."

Hester, limited by injuries last season, had 54 catches for 579 yards and three touchdowns as a junior. The son of former FSU and NFL receiver Jessie Hester, he finished his USF career with 107 catches for 1,226 yards and eight touchdowns.

Rookie minicamps typically involve 20 to 30 unsigned players working out for the right to a limited amount of contracts -- former Bulls Marc Dile and Jarriett Buie earned deals from the Bucs' rookie minicamp last spring, and Dile is back on the Bucs roster after both players were cut before last season.

Awesome!!  I didn't expect much out of him, and i'm glad it's not the bucs!  It seems like they've taken quite a few of our decent seniors and always release them.

So glad he got the chance. If he wouldn't have been hurt he would have been USF's top rated offensive draft player ever.

He was easily the most talented all around receiver ever.
