Thursday night college games on ESPN are well-established, and it's probably the biggest stage of the weekend outside of whatever game CBS shows, and the Saturday night ABC game. These are good for any program who plays in them.

And seriously... USF would have lost their last few Thursday night games no matter what day they played them. The teams they played were better than them.

I'm sorry but that is silly. Rutgers 2 years ago wasn't better than us, they were READY for us. We haven't had great game prep at any time over the last 2 seasons. We couldn't adjust to a Night, Away,Thursday, Friday, Must win, Cold or pressure situation. We need to be ready to play football at game time, and that doesn't mean a bunch of pre-game histrionics or head butting. True game prep is how you handle the the lead up. It is how you develop a game plan. And it is how you execute once the game get's shaking. Leavitt didn't handle any of those issues well. CSH has to build that program here.

I was referring to Pittsburgh '08, Cincinnati '08, Cincinnati last year, and Rutgers last year. All on Thursday night, all losses no matter when they played the game. They could have played at 4:30 in the morning on a Tuesday and all four of those teams would have beat the Bulls.

Other than that, spot on. The preparation was pretty lacking the last 2-3 years, especially in conference games, which need the most preparation.

I want as many nationally televised games as possible.  To hope for anything else is ridiculous.

Except for FSU & WVU last year  ;)

I agree and understand what you are saying. I feel good about Holtz making this change for us.

The fact that many bulls fans complain about these games shows how far we’ve come. Anyone remember the days when we only had horrible local tv coverage?

Or NO television coverage.

I remember MANY nights in the chat room here while listing to 1010 AM with it's crappy signal....

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
