Ever since Nova beat Temple on Thursday things have been topsy tervy. Here is an FCS pre-season ranking. http://fcsnow.com/poll.aspx It should be noted that virtually all of the top 15 played 1-A opponents this week, with a few playing 1-AA. The opponents that played 1-AA opponents won handedly. But all the 1-AA schools that played 1-A opponents, except Wofford against USF, came close to winning or won. Including some teams receiving votes. Richmond, Nova, and Montana all beat 1-A teams, so did William and Mary. Other teams came within a TD of beating 1-A teams to include the biggest of Northern IA almost beating #22 Iowa twice. Liberty gave WVU fits, Weber State, App State, Jacksonville State, Eastern Washington, Umass, Eastern Kentucky, Southern Illinois, and Northern Arizona all gave their 1-A opponents fits. This bodes well for USF. Lots of parity in college football, and of that group Wofford runs one of the trickier offenses and we mostly shut it down. No 1-A team has beaten Wofford this bad in 7 years. On a bad note, Samford who wasn't in the FCS top 50...almost beat UCF.

I was only illustrating that cream-of-the-crop of FCS schools gave most 1-AA teams fits, and took them into the 4th quarter. Citadel wasn't even receiving votes, which puts them in the 50ish range at best. UNC should have destroyed them. But in the ranked group, where Wofford resides, USF is the only 1-A school that escaped with a lopsided victory against one of those teams.
