Grothe snubbed by Unitas award list?

He should have been on that list, but in reality, the Unitas will go to Tebow, McCoy or Bradford in all likelihood.  The one that got me was that Northwestern QB, he only had like 400 yards passing last year.  Grant Gregory might have had that if he played more.   

Bradford is only a junior. The award goes to the top senior QB.

These lists are nothing more than PR releases to get recognition for their award. That's why the biggest award (the heisman) doesn't release a list everyone knows what it is.

Chances are it was just a snafu, there isn't much analysis in these lists other than looking for seniot starting QBS around the US.

just to update, grothe has been added to the unitas watch list. site hasn't been updated, but board president says so ...

USF FOOTBALL: Grothe Added to Unitas Award List

TAMPA – Matt Grothe was added to the preseason list for the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award on Monday afternoon.

The initial watch list for the award, which is given to the top senior collegiate quarterback, did not include Grothe. ESPN.com and other media outlets asked the Unitas committee to reconsider their list and on Monday Grothe was added to the exclusive group.

Grothe will be top 15 at best - I love the guy but he throws too many intercepts.

That will change this season...
