LOL...

NOBAMA83 finished 5th, missing by 20 overall points on the score and by 189 on total offense.  =)

so the margin of victory does not count at all?

The way it's always been calculated is "closest to actual score", not margin of victory.  We calculate that by adding the difference between your USF prediction and the actual score to the difference between your FIU prediction and the actual score.

So if the score to a game is 40-39 USF

and person a precicted a close game with a 20-19 USF score and person B predicted 40-3 USF. Who would win?

Simple math..

(40-40) + (39-3) = 36

(40-20) + (39-19) = 40

The 40-3 would win.

Not really... for several years now it's always been "how far off were you from the actual score" ... not "how close were you to predicting the margin of victory"...

The math could also be like this:

Actual score: 40+39 = 79

Guess 1: 40+3 = 43

Guess 2: 20+19 = 39

So, again, 40-3 would be the winner of these two scores.

See the rules on the first post:

...

The winner will be decided with the first and second prediction items.  I am looking for the person that comes closest to the actual score, not simply the margin of victory.  If more than one person is correct, or equally close, we'll go to item three.  Closest wins.  If still tied, we go to item four - if still tied, whoever gives the best reasoning, and pre-game analysis wins.*
