I'm not sure that their opponents were inferior. It just proves how far preseason rankings and speculation can be from reality. On paper, Pitt recruited top athletes. The name change is confusing (and requires you to write out the new version on first reference, taking up a ton of space high up in a story) and there wasn't anything wrong with the old name ... So it's either:USF beat I-AA's Tennessee Martin 56-7.or USF beat FCS (Football Championship Series, formerly Division I-AA) Tennessee-Martin 56-7.
