Kaz has the following things going for him:

1.  Rays are at home and are good at home

2.  Kaz has had plenty of rest.

3.  The Rays just lost and usually come out hitting better after a loss.

4.  The A's are one of the worst hitting teams in the league.

5.  The A's are in a slump and have lost 5 in a row.

If kaz is going to start turning it around, tonight is the night to do it.  He has every opportunity and if he gets shelled, we're in trouble the rest of the way.

Just promise me that if he *gasp* doesn't win that you won't turn this into your typical vagtastic whine-fret... please?

Late in June, Brandon Webb was struggling.  He turned in a gem last night.  This is baseball people, not football.  There are 162 games each year, not 12.  It's impossible to be on top of your game all the time.  Cy Young lost 316 games.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
