Reports surfacing that the Boston Red Sox have agreed to trade Nomar Garciaparra to the Chicago White Sox for Magglio Ordonez.

If true, the trade will happen immediately after the A-Rod/Manny trade.

http://www.newsday.com has the first story on it.

the dominoes fall...

Magglio would make the Arod for Manny deal work.  2 players out, 2 players in, improvement on both sides of the ball.

Totally agreed.  Comparing the stats between the two last year, we'd lose about .008 average points but gain 10 home runs and 20 RBIs.

I'd take that.

Adding ANY offense to arguable the BEST offensive team ever is scary!  Then making their defense better,  :o :o

Now add to that, their starting rotation is probably the best in the game, and they have one of the best relievers from last season.

Scary... expectations should be through the roof.

Nomar's better years are behind him. Coming back from a wrist injury is always difficult and I've read many reports that his bat speed is not what it once was.

Ramierez is a talented bum. He dogs it on the field and has a questionable attitude. The big winners will be the RedSox if they can get A-Rod, who is is the prime of his career.

Look for the Yankees to respond to this move by countering with Vlad  Guerrro (sp?).

In other news, the Devil Rays are out of money after sign Jose Cruz Jr and Rey Sanchez.

Orioles and Vlad are in serious negotiations right now and are the front runner, but i'm sure the Yanks will get their chance at him.

Snore... when a handful of franchises can invest more in one player than two-thirds of their competition spends on their entire team, it's kinda hard to get interested. Not to mention the 50,000,000,000 other problems MLB has.

Did you see that the friggin' player's union blocked the A-Rod/Manny trade? They refused to allow the deal to be rengociated on the grounds that A-Rod was giving up too much.

It's just emblematic of the short-sightedness of everyone involved with MLB. A-Rod wants out of Texas, Boston wants rid of Manny, everyone involved is willing to come to the table to get it done, and here comes the **** players union to defend its selfish interests -- essentially denying the wishes of two of their own members.

I realize it's the union's job to represent its members, but I think their members are better off having the freedom to negociate themselves out of white-elephant contracts if they so choose.

couldn't agree more about the players union... but i can always get hyped up about the Sox vs Yanks, regardless of how much cash they throw around.
