After several years here talking about my future move to Tampa, I have finally arrived. On Sunday, actually, but I just got Internet access now. Living in Meadow Pointe, with two quite attractive and lovely female roommates, and with weeks with nothing to do.

Took a friend from Ohio out to Channelside and Ybor and he loved it all, the next day we drove out to Clearwater Beach and enjoyed the only Skyline Chili we'd ever seen with a bar.

Anyway, I'm back on my own now and my roommates either don't go out (older sister) or are only 18 (younger sister) so if anyone wants to give a brother an idea of a good place to meet some people throw it my way. Thanks!

are these 2 roommates sisters of each other?  or of you?   just curious.

anyway...

I've heard (never been) that the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino is decent.  Lots of clubs, lots of people made out of silicone ;) and gambling to boot, although i heard you can't get a poker table without getting on a huge waiting list.

sisters of each other. found the place on craigslist. it's AMAZING. meadow pointe is freaking awesome. i am very undeserving of this kind of action. and i have been wanting to check out the hard rock for some poker action, but my expertise is no-limit, so i need to play a lot of practice low-limit in order to not lose my shirt over there.

B99, I think most posting on this particular board are old married fogies but a few whippersnappers do chime in from time to time that may be able to steer you places. Is Meadow Pointe the place down by the river?

Bobcat, the good thing about the No-Limit over there is it is usually tourney style... you buy in for 50$ and you can't lose any more than that, and i believe its winner take all, 8 or 10 people at a table.

I don't think they have rebuys.. but i may be wrong.

I didn't realize they had no-limit down there. I'm all about it.

Oh, and Meadow Pointe is up here in New Tampa, along County Line Rd. Technically in Wesley Chapel, Pasco County, though I can see Hillsborough County from my driveway.

Bobcat:

If you're looking for a place to just chill out, I would recommend Tate Brothers Pizza on Davis Island.  No frills, no attitude.  Good pizza, a couple of pool tables, and cheap pitchers of beer.  Plus, the owners Tom and Dave are cool as hell.

Thursday night is usually college night, as most of the UT kids go over.  It's a nice change from Ybor and Channelside.

well now is a bad time as summer school has/is just ending and most people dont move in for another week or two so it is pretty dead right now.  Ybor will get old soon, but Channelside is usually a lot better place to just hang out and not worry about the 8 billion "thugs" in Ybor.  Fletcher's is a good place once school starts back up.  Bennigan's (new tampa and USF) are usually decent places to grab a couple drinks.  Not sure about other places up in new tampa cause i just moved up in the area too.  Whiskey Park down in Hyde Park area is a nice place.  Some of the places in International plaza are fun.

ill add more as i think of them

We ate at Bennigan's in NT my first time here. The service was awful, to be frank. I hope I can find a good place near here though, with all the people living here you'd think there'd be more. Maybe Pasco County is being stingy with liquor licenses.

Anyway, while we're on the topic, can anyone turn the heat down? I'm sweating my guts out over here :-P

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
