USF jumps WVU

If USC, UF, & ASU bite the dust Sat, does USF jump WVU in the rankings?

As much as I bleed Green & Gold, the AP, Harris and Coach's polls have already taught us that there is still a considerable bias for the "traditional" teams instead of basing their votes on current season accomplishments.

Keep winning one game at a time, and hopefully we [bulls' Country] will change voters minds.

If WVU and USF win, both teams would have won tough road conference games.  USF may get extra credit if we dominate UConn and WVU just squeaks by.  However, I don't think it'll be enough to persuade the voters to put us ahead of WVU.

It's clear that "tradition" as well as "when you lose" are factored into the equation.

It can't happen.

If we jumped WVU (w/o them losing) then the pollsters will be absolutely bombarded with questions as to why we weren't ahead of them last week. If we both win this weekend then we had a way better argument last week as to why we should be ranked ahead of them.

But after this week, if they win, then they'll have already been ahead of us last week and then beat a team we couldn't, in the same stadium within a week long span.

The big thing about these polls, is it's always best to lose early... plain and simple, and unfortunately we did not.

we'd have to win big and WVU would have to look awful and barely squeak out a victory with Ray Rice fumbling 4 times so everyone says "they gave it to them"

The computer ranking is what will eventually propel USF past WVU.  WVU will stay ahead of USF in the human polls for now.

However, BC's win does not do anything for us in the computers.  If VT won, we would have gained an extra spot in the computers.  I don't think our computer ranking will be strong enough this week to move us past WVU yet.  We need to be #2 or #3 in the computers in order to jump WVU in the BCS.

Computer Rankings:

#5 USF    vs. #16 UCONN

#10 WVU vs. NR  RU

A win this weekend probably helps us more than WVU.  Will it be enough ?  Probably not!
