i would tell san diego you traded #1 pick for rivers so i would expect more money because rivers is effectively now the first pick

i would settle for same deal manning got

san diego is really dumb

they should have had deal in place bfore letting manning go to NY

this is why SD is always struggling

Agreed. If you have the first pick, have the contract agreed upon. SD does show the NFL how not to do business. Does Stirling own the Chargers too?

I don't agree.  The trade that they got Rivers, 2004 3rd round pick, 2005 1st round and 5th round picks for Manning.  That means they are not equal.

It's simple math.

Manning =  Rivers + 3rd + 1st + 5th

or

Rivers = Manning - 3rd - 1st - 5th

Therefore Rivers does not equal Manning.

Now if I were his agent, it would be a different story.  Of course I'd ask for as much, if not more, than Manning received.

I was speaking logically.  Agents have a responsibility to get their clients as much as they can.
