In direct correlation with the team's success, junior midfielder Kevon Neaves is also enjoying an impressive 2007 season so far. Neaves scored the game-winning goal in the 36th minute off of a feed from senior Simon Schoendorf to provide the Bulls with all the offense they would need. The goal was Neaves' third of the year as he extends his team-lead in points to eight thus far. The Petit Valley, Trinidad, native has garnered at least one point in each of the Bulls three games this year. For Schoendorf, the assist was his third of the year. The midfielder also notched two shots on goal in the contest. Overall, the Bulls nearly doubled the Golden Panthers (0-2-1) in shots, tallying 13 to FIU's seven, with seven of those for USF on frame compared to three for FIU. Keeper Diego Restrepo earned his second-straight shutout with the victory and the third win of his collegiate career. The Bulls have notched seven goals in the three games played, compared to only two for their opponents. The team has also out-shot its foes 47-29. USF will see its first ranked opponent tomorrow when it faces No. 15 (NSCAA/adidas) South Carolina at 4 p.m. in the second and final game of the tournament. The Gamecocks bring a 2-0-0 record into the weekend, including a season-opening double-overtime win against No. 12 Clemson. USC will battle tournament host and No. 6/14 UConn Friday night at 7 p.m.
