Miami can do its thing anywhere: play great football, be avg in basketball, and use hoards of money to keep their status the way it is.

The other defectors will be hurting.

Diddy is correct.  Miami's already sold its soul for football years ago.  What's one Willie Williams, or skimming over a grade, or class...Miami will do what it takes to compete in the ACC.  They will continue to dominate in football, and baseball because they sell out to do it.

Basketball will be decent, like always, and they'll field some mildly above average Olympic Sports.  All in all, Miami will make $15mm a year from football, and live in that glory.

BC on the other hand does not have that luxury, nor can they afford it.  BC is going to find out that they are actually the epitomy of Northeast, playing is a very southern league.  Furthermore, BC will not, and cannot sellout like Miami to get further ahead.  Therefore, they'll sit getting creamed in football, creamed in basketball, and the rest of the Olympic teams will just try not to be embarrassed.  The Big East may beckon BC back in ten years.  A more homier feel, and some respectability back to the program.

I think Vtech will do OK, they'll be competitive in football, but not great- Blacksburg is a tough place to recruit.

vtech IMO is the biggest loser if BE succeeds, they will also want back in to the be when they see USF and Uconn going to bcs games while they are stuck in the continental tire bowl.

vtech left a drivers seat position to go to a third row seat. had they stayed it would have been better for the BE and they could have dominated and cut a notre dame type deal with the BE to stay more $$$.

If VAtech stayed, we wouldn't be in the Big East.

What some people here seem to be missing is the A.C.C. is a strong academic conference as well as

athletic conference.   The main reason B.C. joined the A.C.C. was because of the academics.   Va. Tech. has always wanted to be in the A.C.C. but had no support but when the opportunity came The Gov. stepped in to make sure it happened.  They are not as highly regarded academically  but are more at home in that conference.   Miami on the other hand has A.C.C. high standards academically and are one of the tops athletic wise.

You're right.  BC would have been much better off.

Miami was rated #60 in academics in the country.

B.C. was rated #40 just behind GA. TECH. at 39.  I did not say Va. Tech. joined the A.C.C. for academics; I said they have always wanted to join since the fifties.
