i understand it being questionable if it is the leadoff batter... that is the only time though.  If you have 1 or 2 outs... walk him... if it is the leadoff batter... it depends more on the score.... tie game... i don't know what i'd do... i'd probably pitch to him, but i woudn't give anything good to hit... and if i walk him... oh well.

part of the reason that Bonds is walked so much is that the rest of his team is average at best, so they dont have much risk in walking him and taking their shot with the rest of the lineup.
