USF Softball Ranked No. 22 In USA Today/NFCA Preseason Poll

STARKVILLE, Miss. (Jan. 24, 2007) – The University of South Florida softball team has been ranked No. 22 in the nation, according to the USA Today/National Fastpitch Coaches Association Preseason Top 25 Poll released today.

The Bulls finished the 2006 season with a record of 50-25 and a No. 18-ranking in the final NFCA poll. USF is coming off one of its best seasons to date, earning its first ever Super Regional appearance thanks to posting a perfect 3-0 record en route to the Gainesville Regional Championship. For the third time in history, the program was only a step away from its first ever trip to the Women’s College World Series.

Louisville joins USF as the only other BIG EAST team to receive a national ranking to open up the season. The Cardinals earned the 20th spot in the poll thanks to a record of 45-11 in 2006 and a NCAA Tournament appearance. Fellow league members DePaul and Notre Dame are receiving votes.

doesn't hurt to have double threads for the ranked softball team I suppose  :)  let's make that college world series so I can see some games on tv (are other games on tv?).
