like mike said...we can be happy that no one will doubt the big east's spot in the BCS but i would not consider us a top 2 or even 3 conference.

with only 8 teams it is very hard to do so.

How about this - number of teams in the BCS:

Big 10 - 2

SEC - 2

Big East - 1

THE BE IS STATISTICALLY the best conf THIS year.

show me numbers that say different

ave rank of all teams in the conf.

wins per team

occ winning percentage

and finally bowl record

what stat says we are not the best conf. (i know about perception, but lets talk numbers)?

bulls96go,

We know the final bowl record, but why don't you tell give us how we compare to other BCS conferences in the other 3 categories you mentioned?  You should probably throw in the winning percentage of our OOC teams, to help prove your point.

exactly-- we aren't going to do your leg work for you when you make WILD BASELESS ASSUMPTIONS or more to the point-- SINGLE ITEM based assumptions.

seriously-- let it go. It's as dumb as talking about how Boise State should get a shot at the NC THIS YEAR.

agghh-- screw it. I'll just ignore you instead.

yeah, good way to win an arguement, heh.

so some of you think that the number of teams in a conference determines who is the best?  i would say it is the average quality of all the teams.  we have 2 teams that aren't that good, and 6 others that were bowl eligible, 5 of those winning a bowl game.  what other conference can say that 62.5% of their teams won a bowl game?  that includes a BCS game.

we'll have 3 teams in the top 15, maybe in the top 10, to finish the season.  the big 12 will have 2 in the top 15, with oklahoma falling out of the top 10.  only the SEC and big 10 will for sure have 3 teams in the top 10, so I can see the arguement there.  I think those conferences have more bad teams, though. Minnesota, Indiana, Iowa, Northwestern, Michigan State, and Illinois all finished under .500.  Vandy, bama, ole miss, and miss state did as well.  Those 2 both have a higher percentage of teams under .500 teams than the Big East.

If you want to just argue cream of the crop, then fine, call those 2 conferences better.  But who else is?

you seem hung up on the fact that we won our bowl games wthout giving any consideration to the level of the opponents. We had favorable matchups in EVERY bowl game.

as I have said-- the whole thing is highly subjective. If you want to go around touting the Big East as the next greatest thing to college football--- go for it. I'll stick with the reality of the situation which is simply this. We had a nice year in the Big East. One might say two years in a row. Does that make us better than the others who go through various cycles and often beat each other up? I don't see it that way. Yeah-- they have some bad teams but that is pretty natural to ANY type of conference setup-- right down through to the Pee Wee leagues.

I'll just let you go on your crusade and wish you well. GOod luck stormin' the castle, hope you find that grail

favored, and won.  look, you admit the big east had a good season, all I'm saying is that he big east was one of the best conferences this year.  I'm not sure why you are opposed to doing that.

What a year for the Big East!

4 months ago they were saying take away automatic BCS bid

Now? Arguably #2 conference in the country.

Not just a statement, a HUGE statement...and Im proud that USF could be a part of that.

Next year looking even better

big east is still behind pac10,big 10,sec, and big 12  TODAY

let's see if big east can remain ahead of acc for another year
