About a month to go in the recruiting process, and it looks like we may pull in our best class ever!

For those in the know, and to facilitate general football discussion, here are a few names i'm wondering about.

Latravous Washington: Ath. Bradenton

Supposedly commited to Nebraska, where his brother (Fabian of the Oakland Raiders) went, but I hear he is wavering.  Will probably play safety, but maybe USF could offer him a shot at playing qb.

Looking at the video, his throwing mechanics are really pretty poor, but seems to have decent arm strength and is definately very big and fast.

Calvin Sutton:  LB.  Deland

This guy has been offered and is visiting USF.  Auburn wants him and has offered, so he must be a real force considering he is about 5'10.

Travaris Cadet:  Ath.  Miami Central

I inquired about this guy a while back, and he has a visit to USF coming up.

Its interesting to me that we seem to be kinda backing off the Miami area this year.

Compared to Washington, Cadet seems to be more polished, and he is obviously very quick.  Arm strength and Height seem borderline, but we've heard that before......   If nothing else, could definately be a playmaking return man and slot reciever.

Anyone with knowledge of these guys, or others to add to the list,  it'd be great to get some serious football discussion going on this particular board.

Well actually, after watching the videos again, Cadet's Height may be borderline, but he has plenty of arm......

Forget Washington, that's over done deal for NU.  Cadet is being recruited heavily by USF as a QB but more as an athlete.  He would be a huge steal for USF because he could play so many positions.  UM offered him exclusively as a WR and he said "NO" he wants a school to at least give him a shot at QB which is what USF is doing.

Calvin Sutton, good kid a monster of a player, great lineage since his uncle is Eric Rhett and daddy played college ball.  His dad lives in Tampa and has visited with the staff who offered.  Calvin is going to be iffy getting his test score but he's worth the shot.  There are a lot of big name schools offering but I think he's liking the idea of playing in Tampa near his dad.  He has also grown bigger then what scout and rivals has him listed at.  He is definitely at least 6-0, dad says he's 6-1 but I'd say it's something in between.

Of those three give me Sutton and Cadet and this is a great year, hell it's already a great class if Ford gets in with Kevin Williams and Tyrone McKenzie already enrolled!  If McKenzie gets his waiver can you imagine?  McKenzie had 129 tackles and 9.5 TFL, 4 FF last year at ISU.  Put him next to Moffitt with the defense we have returning.....

The good news is the class is nearly set.  The staff has most of the commitments they need with just a few big fish left to fry.

Any info on Tyson Butler?  I think that kid has great potential.

Cadet is at the top of my wish list this year among remaining recruits, esp. if Marve goes elsewhere.

Cadet will not be brought in to play QB.  The staff is prepared to go with Voss, Gregory and Grothe if Marve is not signed.

But they may play that card ala Nate Allen just to get him in.  Tremendous athlete to not have him on your team.

His core scores are good enough, and it's been assured that he will get his test score up with tutors.  A great kid, a great player!  They really like USF but Auburn has been pushing real hard as has NU!  Bigger then the 5-10 he's listed as on rivals and scout.  Dad is 6ft and Calvin jr. is slightly taller, and he's a full 220.  I liken to Alonzo McQueen last year, everywhere had him as a 6-0 199lbs LB, yet he legitimately reported to USF around 6-2 230lbs.  I'll take the kid's size when he reports then what someone measured him as a 17 year old junior.

Calvin is one of USF's top priorities at LB.
