During the Rose Bowl broadcast, ABC/ESPN featured the halftime performances of the USC and Michigan Bands.  For about two minutes each, there were no announcers, no graphics, no scores - just BAND!

As we've discussed on other threads on this board, Marching Bands are part of the atmosphere that makes a college game day the unique experience that it is.  With all of today's focus on TV presentation, it was great to see ABC/ESPN choose to give these bands some airtime which could have been used for ads or ANOTHER highlight recap of bowl week.

I would sincerely appreciate it if you took a few seconds to fill out this feedback form for ESPN/ABC Sports to tell them you appreciate this decision.

Who knows - maybe this will mean you'll see your own HERD OF THUNDER at halftime of our BCS Bowl next year!

Thanks - and GO BULLS!

I wouldn't be surprised if that's a Rose Bowl demand. Having marched in the Tournament of Roses parade back in '99, the entire organization is very band-friendly, and Rose Bowl's been in bed with ABC for some time now, so I bet that partnership melps make that concession. Still, I'd love to see that to spread to the other bowls!

During the Cotton Bowl, Auburn and Nebraska marching bands had similar airtime.

It was a lot better than watching sportscenter highlights or more ads.  Even if you arn't a big band person, it's nice to hear your band playing as background music at home... right?

Of course, this shouldn't matter.  Everyone should be at the game!

Thanks, MikeG!! I love your shots - I feel like I'm re-living the game as I go through the slideshow each week.   :GoBulls

Citrus Bowl had some guy singing about Orlando with dancers behind him.  Brutal.  All you really need is both bands to do their thing.  These bowls need to learn this.
