  1. Pics of the new uniforms from today's "Green and Gold Day" announcement downtown. Both Iorio and Woolard took time to compliment the Band on how AWESOME they look, and take a few pictures with us. See you all tonight - GO BULLS!!!
  2. Yes, you're exactly right. We're still in production/copyright purgatory. We have released a few of our 'standard' tracks for FREE download. You can get them at: http://band.arts.usf.edu/media.htm The latest plan is to release a CD with all the USF stuff we have, with just a few other tracks that aren't year specific (no halftime shows). With this setup, we could make a large order to keep the cost down. The real issue holding up this project is the source of funding to pay for the 'up front' costs of production. Even though we're fairly sure we'll sell whatever we order, the powers-that-be (understandably) aren't very excited about taking that kind of chance. As usual - we'll keep you updated on any developments. GO BULLS!
  3. My apologies: It was UCF vs. Southern Miss I provided my email address so that I COULD recieve comments/suggestions from fans. Dr. Robinson and I have always made our email addresses public so we can receive compliments, criticisms, and suggestions from anyone who wants to give them. As I said before, I hope my clarification of the HOT Flip Folder policy will end this discussion. I never would have thought it would reach 3 pages on an Athletics message board! I don't post often here, so if anyone ever wants to discuss ANY HOT Band related issue, please contact me. Thanks!
  4. The Flip Folder policy of the HOT Band is: We strongly encourage our members to memorize their music and march WITHOUT a flip folder. However, if individuals do not accoplish this goal, we ask them to march WITH a flip folder. Yes, it looks better if we do not use them - but that is a responsibility we put on the members at an individual level. This has been the policy of every college marching band I have been associated with (UCF, UGA, and USF). I'm sorry Knight Light - I still have much love for my UCF Knights (but more for my USF Bulls!), but I must correct you. From 9/26/06 UCF vs. Southern Miss I hope this clears up the HOT's policy on Flip Folders for everyone - and I SINCERELY hope my post officially ends this thread. If you would like to further discuss HOT issues, please write me at: jschnett@mail.usf.edu Thanks - GO BULLS!
  5. During the Rose Bowl broadcast, ABC/ESPN featured the halftime performances of the USC and Michigan Bands. For about two minutes each, there were no announcers, no graphics, no scores - just BAND! As we've discussed on other threads on this board, Marching Bands are part of the atmosphere that makes a college game day the unique experience that it is. With all of today's focus on TV presentation, it was great to see ABC/ESPN choose to give these bands some airtime which could have been used for ads or ANOTHER highlight recap of bowl week. I would sincerely appreciate it if you took a few seconds to fill out this feedback form for ESPN/ABC Sports to tell them you appreciate this decision. http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/news/story?page=contact/espntv Who knows - maybe this will mean you'll see your own HERD OF THUNDER at halftime of our BCS Bowl next year! Thanks - and GO BULLS!
  6. We will have a small HOT Band there too! Thanks for putting this togther!
  7. HOT Band will be in section 32 - rows 13-25.
  8. The HOT Band's seating has been set. I'll post it Monday when I found out the section number. FYI - The bowl is is allowing each band 6 minutes of pre-game time on the field. This means the HOT Band will be able to provide our fans with a spirited, yet shortened, version of our usual pre-game sequence (B-U-L-L-S Spellout, Iconic U, Fight Song, 'The Bull', etc). Looking forward to Birmingham!
  9. A new drum set has been approved and will be ordered soon. We've been using a student's private set (that's why its red). The new shells will be as close to USF colors as we can get. Does anyone know where to get an iconic U sticker or decal that size (head is 24" in diameter). If so, please contact me at jschnett@mail.usf.edu . BIG thanks to JEWBULL for getting the ball rolling on the trombone slide covers. I hope we can get those in the games ASAP! Let's hear it for two great basketball teams and great bands there to support them! The atmosphere in the SunDome has been INCREDIBLE!!!
  10. Donations will definatley help. However, so will emails to Athletics from fans and alumni who DEMAND that we send a Pep Band to away games. Thanks for thinking of us!
  11. The HOT Band and Drumline accept every member who applies. However, we do require ALL members to register for the class in OASIS. The HOT Band being a 'class' causes the problem with receiving the A&S funds. The 'Half-million dollar budget' mentioned in the article is what was approved...not what we acutally RECIEVED. I wish the article would have mentioned this.
  12. We tried it once at the UCF game and it went well. There are two problems with doing it at RayJay: -The distance between the HOT and the student section - sound delay will be an issue -Our fans sometimes speed up on the 'U-S-F' chant - it might be hard to stay together (we WON'T speed up) Nonetheless - we plan on trying it tonight! Go Bulls!
  13. The HOT had a GREAT time at the game. We fed off the students' energy - and they fed off ours. This is EXACTLY how it should be! Thanks again for all the compliments and support!
  14. 'The Bull' is the new name for '#8'. This is the song where the crowd does the 'Bull Horns' in a circle over your head. We wanted to give the song more identity by giving it a real name. '1st Down' is what the Band plays after the McDonalds First Down segment. The tracks are not online yet - please be patient - they should be up in a few hours. Billy is working on it right now and he will post on this thread when the update is complete. Thanks...
