I remember seeing so many empty seats for that game in Nashiville last year.

I remember seeing so many empty seats for that game in Nashiville last year. On another board, when Kentucky had a shot at playing in the Liberty Bowl, I mentioned how UK would bring a TON of fans wherever they go, since UK hasn't gone bowling since 1999 season. They key for minor bowls (like Music City, Liberty, etc...) is to hopefully grab teams that are on their way UP (i.e. haven't been to ANY bowl over the past few years), vs being stuck with a team that is on their way down.Excited fan bases will travel... (remember when UK played in their first Jan 1 Bowl game in like 50 years when they went to Tampa after the 1998 season? Tix prices were SKY HIGH...but every and any UK fan was trying to gobble them up!)

Someone said Ohio State fans were the most committed in the country, and to an extent it is true. However Kentucky brings 55,000 a game to see a team that 4-7 was a promising season. That is committment. South Carolina is a close second, they bring 75-80k to see a team that for decades was horrid.UK fans no matter what sport are some of the most committed in teh country and the Music City Bowl ran to grab this team.

It helps when there are no professional teams though in that state. Ditto for South Carolina as well because both Clemson and South Carolina have strong support. It is just the way it is being that fans need to get their sports fix through some avenue.

In fact the Bengals train right outside of Lexington. They just have generations of fans committed to their teams.
