When does cincy and uconn get it on?   This in my opinion dictates where we go most.

It all means nothing if the BE does not get 2 BCS teams in, which isn't guarenteed. The problem the BE will have is attendance. If it's the Rose Bowl with the open spot because of Michigan and Ohio State rematch, they probably go with the SEC Championship game loser knowing they will probably bring more fans than WVU (who does travel well, but not unbelievably)

Actually, it's not so clear cut.

First, in your scenario the Rose Bowl will still have USC.  Chances are that the 'runner up' could be Arkansas.  Since USC thumped Arkansas at the begining of this year, the Rose would have almost no choice but to select a Big East team to face the Trojans.

Now if Arkansas beats Florida, I could see the Rose taking the Gators over the Mountaineers.

However, I really don't see a OSU-UM rematch in the National Championship game.  It will be a lot clearer when the BCS is announced this afternoon.

I would say Florida-Florida State should also be on that list.  Cincy is at U Conn this Saturday at Noon.  It's the Big East Game of the Week and available on Game Plan.

wh do you expect the non BE team to be in the Texas Bowl?

Texas Tech? TCU?

Right now, I am thinking Texas Tech.  TCU is not in the Big 12 - so they would not be eligible for the Texas Bowl.  However, Oklahoma State and Kansas might both be 6-6 and Texas has the last Big 12 selection, so it could be the Cowboys.

My bad the Mt West will be in future yrs

No surprise but no mention of USF

http://www.texasbowl.org/

The regular season is quickly coming to an end as both the Big East and Big 12 conferences are gaining an enormous amount of attention across the country. Based on the explosive offensive styles of both leagues, the fireworks on the field could be equal to the "Largest Holiday Fireworks Show in Texas" that will follow the game.

Already over 33,000 tickets have been sold for the Inaugural Texas Bowl and while there are still great seats available, once the teams are announced on December 3 they will go fast. Fans purchasing tickets for the 2006 game, through the Texans, will be considered season ticket holders and have first rights to those same seats next year.

There are other ways to become involved and participate in Bowl Week activities and receive special recognition as well with Bowl Backer Packages. For more information on becoming a part of this great community event call 832-667-2012.

The Big 12 and Big East Conferences now have 13 teams combined that are bowl eligible and a few others that are fighting for a chance at post-season play. The Texas Bowl is almost assuredly in line for one of the three most talked-about teams in the nation this season  Louisville, West Virginia or Rutgers, out of the Big East. The Texas Bowl will match the No. 3 team from the Big East against a Big12 squad that could likely include Kansas State, Oklahoma State or Texas Tech. There is still a lot of football to be played and things could change dramatically in the Big 12 as is evidenced by KSU's upset win over Texas.

Three Big East teams now rank in the top 10. Rutgers jumped from No. 13 to No. 6 following its 28-25 victory over third-ranked Louisville on Nov. 9. West Virginia moved up from 10th to eighth in the standings after a 42-24 win versus Cincinnati on Nov. 11. The Cardinals are 10th in this week's BCS standings. Louisville beat West Virginia 44-34 at the Cardinal's stadium on November 2, and the Scarlet Knights are scheduled to take on the Mountaineers on December 2 at West Virginia. The Scarlet Knights are one of only four remaining unbeaten teams in Division I-A.

The Big 12 Conference's game results are always unpredictable because the teams are all very close in talent. Kansas State defeated #4 Texas 45-42 last Saturday, destroying the Longhorn's national title dreams. Oklahoma State upset Nebraska 41-29 in week 9 and proves to be tough competition for every opponent. Texas Tech has had many close games this season including a 31-27 victory over Texas A&M on September 30. The Wildcats, Cowboys, and Red Raiders are all bowl eligible and will give any Big East team a run for their money.

The inaugural Texas Bowl is on its way to becoming the newest Texas football tradition by bringing two football powerhouses to battle it out at Reliant Stadium on December 28, 2006. There are many exciting events around the Texas Bowl to create an entertaining celebration of the culture, heritage and football tradition of the Lone Star State. Activities will include TexFest, a free pre-game celebration for all fans featuring team pep-rallies, live music, food and interactive games, and the largest holiday fireworks celebration in the state of Texas.

A portion of the proceeds will benefit Depelchin Children's Centers, one of Houston's oldest and most respected charities.

Tickets can be purchased at Reliant Stadium, through Ticketmaster or by calling 1-866-GO TEXANS. Fewer than 5,000 seats remain in the lower bowl area. Fans purchasing seats through the presale, on-line and via phone (866.GO.TEXANS) receive the first right to renew their seats in future seasons.

It's a new game for Texas! On June 28th, 2006 the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) awarded Houston as the host city of an entirely new annual collegiate bowl game.

The newest football tradition in the Lone Star State, the Texas Bowl will be played on December 28th, 2006, at Reliant Stadium, one of the NFL's premiere football stadiums and the official home of the Houston Texans.

The Texas Bowl is proud to feature teams from the Big 12 and Big East Conferences.

It's more of... hey - we're gonna have an exciting bowl game... you might even get to see one of the media darlings of WVU, U of L, and RU (not to mention a team they've actually heard of).

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
