You Guys Are Getting Ripped Off By The Glazers

ok, i thought it was for education....usually when counties take up the extra cent sales tax it goes towards education and something else.

there are several options for local sales taxes... all 1/2 cent

- indigent health care

- transportation infrastructure (roads)

- local government infrastructure (sidewalks, wastewater, police, fire, stadiums, etc)

- education construction

The "Penny for Pinellas" is for local government and education construction...

Governments give breaks and incentives to businesses all the time.  This was no different.

Big Difference . . . would the county build for Bulls Outfitters ?

No, but Bulls Outfitters is in an Enterprise Zone... so they could have applied for some tax breaks for their renovation, such as sales tax rebates for their construction materials, if they hire residents of the University area...

But my point is that there will NEVER be an increase to help an individual business as it did with The Tampa Bay Bucs.

Would be curious as to know what kind of revenue the county makes annually from this stadium DIRECTLY and how much the Bucs do.

I dunno E.T., Orange County and West Palm Count just got done with a bidding war for the Burnham Institute, which is a leading medical research company. Orange County spent $324M to get Burnham to town.

That's less than RJS.

It happens a lot too in Florida, just not as noted in the news as an evil sports team wanting a stadium (I am against some forms of publicly funded stadiums, especially those where the team that plays there has an owner who gets to hold the city/county hostage)
