To start off, congrats to the Dolphins for clobbering the formerly undefeated Bears in Chicago and finally getting that 2nd win.  To bad the game was blacked out in Tampa and all we had to watch was that abortion of a Bucs game today.

However, Nick Saban has no respect for the history of the Dolphins

Saban isn't about to invite any of the '72 Aqua and Green class to the sidelines to use as motivation, a la Shula.

"Some of these guys, how old were they in 1985?" Saban said. "You talk about Babe Ruth to these guys, and they don't even know who that is. You have to stay current."

That 85 game against Chicago was a thing that legends are made of.  I remember watching it on TV and you just knew that the presence of the '72 Dolphins added something magical to that game.  Unfortunately Miami laid an egg against the Patriots in the playoffs, and those same Patriots changed from Minute Men to Girly Men against the Bears in the Super Bowl that year.

Nick Saban is starting to fit the loser profile of every Dolphins coach that does not have the last name Shula.  Talk a lot of big talk but accomplish absolutely nothing.

This is one of the smarter moves he's made, if not the only one. He shouldn't invite them because they're a laughing stock with the celebrations after the last unbeaten team gets beat. He's absolutely right that the players can't relate to things that happened that long ago. Players today aren't that tied to a team an more. Very few finish with the same one any longer. Salary caps have destroyed the majority of long term player/team relationships.

If these guys do not know who Babe Ruth was, then they probably have no idea who Abraham Lincoln or George Washington was.

Saban has not made many smart moves.  He passed on Drew Brees and signed Dante Culpepper.   Brees is playing like and MVP with New Orleans while Culpepper is still nursing that injury.

Why are the 72 Dolphins a laughing stock for celebrating?  In reality, the media started it, and stories were crafted for celebrations that never happened.  Read the entire article.

That game in 1985 was something special, which was why Shula invited those players.

If you join a team, then you should know and respect the teams history.  If you coach a team, then you should know and respect the teams history.

Saban does not respect the teams history.  Jimmy Johnson did not respect the Dolphins' history either, and he did jack squat as their coach.

Look at the New York Yankees.  Every player on that team, whether they are a long time player like Derek Jeter,  or a mid season pickup like Bobby Abreu knows and respects the history of the Yankees.  Both Jeter and Abreu were born in 1974, and Babe Ruth and many other Yankee legends were dead by that time.

Did they even have a shot at Brees? For some reason I'm thinking he was snapped by the Saints almost as soon as he became available ... I may be wrong.

Horrible correlation. Just about everyone even remotely interested in sports knows the history of the Yankees. That is a very unique situation and nothing like the Dolphins.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
