DURHAM, N.C. -- After two straight losses, Navy coach Paul Johnson gave his nicked-up team a lighter week of practice to help the Midshipmen to regroup.

He can't argue with the bowl-clinching results.

Kaipo-Noa Kaheaku-Enhada ran for 119 yards and a touchdown and threw for a score Saturday to lead Navy to a 38-13 victory over Duke, clinching a fourth straight bowl appearance for the first time in program history.

Adam Ballard added 103 yards rushing and two touchdowns for the Midshipmen (6-3), who secured a berth in the Meineke Car Care Bowl against an Atlantic Coast Conference opponent on Dec. 30 in Charlotte.

Navy had no trouble ending its losing skid or finding plenty of running room against the winless Blue Devils (0-9). Navy ran for 435 yards, threw just five passes and didn't punt all day _ a strong overall performance that seemed to validate Johnson's decision to cut down on physical contact leading up to the game.

We want Notre Dame to do very well, to ensure more open slots for Big East teams.

4) Games involving teams two ranked teams and at least one of the teams is ranked higher than the 2nd highest Big East team.

If the highest and 2nd highest teams can move up and up the polls, then there is at least a chance that 2 Big East teams could make the 10 BCS slots.  Big East ranks: #3 West Virginia; #5 Louisville.

5) Games involving a Top 15 non-BCS team, or a non-BCS team ranked higher than any BCS conference's highest ranked team.

If no teams from the non-BCS conferences make the BCS, then that would mean 4 at-large slots in the 5 BCS bowls.  This increases the chances for 2 Big East teams to be selected.

if they want to do that, then join the pac 10 or big 12.

Rules are rules.

The champion of Conference USA, the Mid-American Conference, the Mountain West Conference, the Sun Belt Conference, or the Western Athletic Conference will earn an automatic berth in a BCS bowl game if either:

 A. Such team is ranked in the top 12 of the final BCS Standings, or,

 B. Such team is ranked in the top 16 of the final BCS Standings and its ranking in the final BCS Standings is higher than that of a champion of a conference that has an annual automatic berth in one of the BCS bowls.

Currently, Boise State is #14.  There remaining schedule is:

 @ San Jose St (6-2, 3-1)

 vs Utah St (1-8, 1-4)

 @ Nevada (6-3, 3-2)

These games are NOT gimmes for the Broncos, but if they win out - they should easily be in the Top 12...

There several games involving two teams just above Boise State - close enough that the loser(s) could drop below Boise State.

#13 Rutgers has games against #10 WVU and #3 Louisville.

#12 LSU has a game with #11 Arkansas.

#7 USC has games with #8 California and #9 Notre Dame.

Also, The ACC champion will probably be ranked lower than Boise State.  Currently, Georgia Tech is #18 and Wake Forest is #19.
