It would greatly assist USF if ND wins out and gets a BCS bowl slot.

They can lose to USC and they'll still get a bid.

Because if they don't they will most likely get a Gator Bowl bid, taking the place of a BE team, and pushing everyone down one bowl. Its sorta like the Navy situation.

Q: why do we want ND to get a BCS? I'm confused.

Because them along with Navy have a sweet deal with the BE bowls that if they become bowl eligible they can go to a BE bowl.

Now, why do we have to put up with that? I don't know.

Yes, exactly as outrunner and moises have posted.  because of the way that certain bowl contracts are structured, ND has the potential to pick up a potential BE bowl slot, making one less opening for BE bowl eligible teams.  Because the bowls aren't forced to take BE #2 or BE #3, and have the option to pick out of order, it means that lower level bowls automatically become more likely for USF.  So, when ND goes to a BCS game, USF has a chance of playing at a better bowl game.  The best option for USF is to see ND and the top two BE teams make the BCS field.
