Week 8

1) USF's Game

Sun 10/22 - USF (5-2, 1-1) @ Cincinnati 17 (3-4, 0-2) - 8:00pm [ESPN]

2) Games involving one or more schools on USF's 2006 schedule.

Obviously we should follow these games.

Thu 10/19 - North Carolina (1-4, 0-3) @ Virginia (2-5 ,1-2) - 7:30pm [ESPN]

Fri 10/20 - #5 West Virginia (6-0, 1-0) @ Connecticut (3-3, 0-1) - 8:00pm [ESPN]

Sat 10/21 - #16 Rutgers (6-0, 1-0) @ Pittsburgh (6-1, 2-0) - 12:00pm [ESPN2]

Sat 10/21 - #7 Louisville (6-0, 1-0) @ Syracuse (3-4, 0-2) - 12:00pm [big East GOTW / ESPN Regional]

Sat 10/21 - SF Austin (1-5, 1-0) @ McNeese State (2-4, 0-1) - 3:00pm

Sat 10/21 - Kansas (3-4, 0-3) @ Baylor (3-4, 2-1) - 3:05pm

Sat 10/21 - Rice (2-5, 1-2) @ Central Florida (2-4, 1-1) - 4:00pm

IDLE: Florida International (0-7, 0-3)

3) Games involving Notre Dame and Navy, because of their ties to Big East bowl games.

We want Notre Dame to do very well and Navy to not be bowl eligible, to ensure more open slots for Big East teams.

Sat 10/21 - UCLA (4-2, 2-2) @ #8 Notre Dame (5-1)

IDLE: Navy (5-2)

4) Games involving teams two ranked teams and at least one of the teams is ranked higher than the 2nd highest Big East team.

If the highest and 2nd highest teams can move up and up the polls, then there is at least a chance that 2 Big East teams could make the 10 BCS slots.  Big East ranks: #5 West Virginia; #7 Louisville.

Sat 10/21 - #9 Texas (6-1, 3-0) @ Nebraska (6-1, 3-0) - 12:00pm [ABC]

Sat 10/21 - #23 Iowa (5-2, 2-2) @ #3 Michigan (7-0, 4-0) - 3:30pm [ABC]

5) Games involving a Top 15 non-BCS team, or a non-BCS team ranked higher than any BCS conference's highest ranked team.

If no teams from the non-BCS conferences make the BCS, then that would mean 4 at-large slots in the 5 BCS bowls.  This increases the chances for 2 Big East teams to be selected.

Sat 10/21 - #15 Boise State (6-0, 2-0) @ Idaho (4-3, 3-0) - 5:05pm

NOTE: Lowest rank of a conference-leading team is #12 Clemson (ACC).

6) Other games of interest.

Sat 10/21 - #20 Boston College (5-1, 2-1) @ Florida State (4-2, 2-2) - 3:30pm [ABC]

Sat 10/21 - #19 Georgia Tech (5-1, 3-0) @ #12 Clemson (6-1, 3-1) - 7:45pm [ESPN]

Ranks used are Official BCS rankings.
