You're correct that most bowl game do not want previous matchups, however it HAS happened before- Miami vs. Florida State

FSU vs UF one year too

Yeah matching up Miami and FSU in that Orange Bowl was terrible. No one wanted to see it. As for that 1996 FSU-UF game, it was for the NC, so they didn't have much of a choice.

FSU and UF met twice in the Sugar Bowl...94 in the "overtime game" after the choke at the doak.
