The guy called a very good and balanced game with absolutely no running back. That's hard to do.

When you play teams like FIU and UCF you try to only run basic stuff to keep things off film. So you can't blame him much for that.

I would like to think that Rod finally has a qb that can finally do what needs to be done... As far as Grothe running too much?   When we have a better rb hopefully grothe will not run as much....  Smazza is Smazza... I am just glad we have a break from the Coach Mac bashers!

In a previous thread I mentioned that credit needs to be given to RS. He set up that fake reverse pass with his play calling earlier in the game. It is not easy to pull off a trick play like that. You have to set it up, call it at the right time, and hope the players execute.

The other praise I would give RS is using Kolby Erskin as a WR for that 29 yard gain over the middle. Brilliant. Line him up as an RB, then move him out into the slot where he gets a serious mismatch with a slow LB on him. The kid has some speed and heart, but I honestly thought we would never see him on the field again after the MSU game.

That was a nice play by Erskin. The kid is a gamer and I was happy he got a little redemption
