2 World Championships. And to win it all you have to beat the best from the AL. Nice try Trip.

Here's your comment:

the Marlins seem to do okay spending very little. If you have the management that can put a team together you will be okay.

When you won the World Series, you weren't  "spending very little". You're doing kind of okay THIS year, spending very little, because the NL sucks, overall.

when we won in 03 our payroll was near the bottom

Not true my friend, the Rays actually make more money then the Red Sux and Yankees.  New ownership has said they are gonna spend money this offseason.  This season has been promising at times.  We have won 7 out of 10 gameagainst the Sux at home this year so we can compete with them and we killed the Yankees last year.  We will compete with a little money put into our bullpen and a starting pitcher.

Your kidding right? The Yankees sold over 2 Billion in merchandise worldwide last year. The Red Sox were around 750M. The Devil Rays are lucky if they are selling part of that. The Devil Rays do make money, because of the MLB small market kickbacks, the Pirates will make almost $20 Million this season off of it. However, those numbers don't reflect the money the team is making of merchandise, etc.

The Devil Rays will NEVER compete year in and out in the AL East unless they start spending. There is too much money in the division with NY, Boston and Baltimore and Toronto have shown the willingness to spend if they have to.

I'm a Rays fan, but the reality is they are stuck in the worst division to be in if your a small market team.

marlins suck, NL sucks, rays suck....

teams like boston and new york should be a model for TB and FL....they buy championships...NY will win it all this yearg

83, stop bashing Tampa all the time...like another poster said, you have a "UCF" like obsession with Tampa....

Ok Smart ass. How many championships does Boston have in the last 50 years?

according to this article the Yankees lost a lot of money in 2005.

http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2247401

Trust me i'm not saying that the Devil Ryas will win with the payroll they have and I would love to be like the Yankees and buy players and win but I know that will not happen.  I am still trying to find the actual report from Forbes that show the Rays making more but obviously if the Yankees lost this much the Rays made some more money then them.  I just hope that with the talent we have in the minors we can be like the Marlins and have everyone fill their role and come up to the majors and succeed.
