Jones Earns Invite To NBA Pre-Draft Camp June 6-10

TAMPA, Fla. (May 9, 2006) – Former University of South Florida men’s basketball player Solomon Jones has been invited to the 2006 National Basketball Association Pre-Draft Camp June 6-10, which for the first time is being held in Orlando, Fla.

Pre-Draft Camp drills, games, and strength and conditioning will be conducted at Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex.  ESPNU will provide the most live coverage of an NBA Pre-Draft Camp, featuring six hours of coverage over two days.

In past years, the NBA Pre-Draft Camp has been held at the Moody Bible Institute’s Solheim Center in downtown Chicago.

Jones helped lead the Portsmouth Sports Club to the championship of the 2006 Portsmouth Invitational in early April, the first of two major pre-draft camps this spring.

Jones’ three-game weekend included a pair of double-doubles, allowing him to average 14.0 points and 9.7 rebounds while shooting 63.6 percent from the floor.  He chipped in 16 points, 10 rebounds and four blocks in the title game in just 24 minutes of action.

Jones was an Honorable Mention All-BIG EAST selection for the Bulls in 2005-06 after averaging 13.2 points, 9.8 rebounds and 3.1 blocks per game.  He concluded the year with 13 double-doubles and was ranked among the national leaders in blocked shots and rebounds.

The NBA Draft takes place at the Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York City on Wednesday, June 28 and is televised on ESPN.

hopefully he has a good draft camp, nbadraft.net has him near the end of the draft to dallas with the 58th pick.

A good camp could help a ton.  Unlike Hall, Jones isn't really expected to get drafted, so if he does, especially with only 2 rounds of draft, that is just awesome!

You cant coach athletic ability like that kid has.  Get him some NBA strength trainers and coaches and the potential can be unlimited.  Should def be drafted.

I dont like the NBA comparison of Carlos Rogers though.  Think he deserves a little more respect.  Ã‚

I would love to see him get drafted but would honestly be very surprised if he did.

i think Jones can make it in the NBA and that he will be drafted.  He has got alot of athletic ability and showed what he can do against players in the best basketball conference, and against bigger bodies.

This camp is going to be hugely important if he is going to be drafted.

As it stands now... I'd say his chances are about 5%.

A good camp could make it 50/50

He fell off of NBADarft.net for some reason.  Hopefully it has nothing to do with a poor camp and only because that site tends to change up end of 2nd round picks frequently.  Any info.?

Maybe because of all the underclassmen that are declaring for the NBA Draft.

He's fallen off of it before, only to re-surface again.  He was off the board just before Velcro posted that link.  I was surprised to see him there again.  Ever trade stocks Hermie?
