Bulls' Hall Still Waiting To Hear From NFL

TAMPA - University of South Florida running back Andre Hall must wait just a little bit longer before finding where he'll be selected in the NFL draft.

USF's all-time leading rusher, Hall was not chosen in Saturday's first three rounds.

Hall, who led the Big East last season with 1,374 yards rushing, could only sit and watch on television as 97 players, including eight running backs, were selected Saturday.

"I'm good," said Hall, who watched the draft with family and friends from a St. Petersburg sports bar. "They [the projected drafts] had me among the top 10 [running backs] and 10 haven't been taken.

"I'm not mad at all. It will just give me more motivation. I'm not tripping, I'm in good spirits."

Hall was projected by most mock drafts as a fourth or fifth-round selection, but he believed he would be selected in the third round.

"I'm real surprised Andre wasn't selected," said Jonathan Kline, Hall's agent. "Personally and professionally I was taken aback. I told Andre being picked in the bottom of the third [round] is the same as the top of the fourth.

"It's a matter of going on the field and what you do on the field. It's performance on the field, not what round you were taken."

After watching about eight hours of the draft Saturday, Hall said he won't watch today. Instead he said he'll go play basketball until he's contacted by a team.

When selected, Hall will be the eighth USF player taken in the NFL Draft since 2001. If Hall goes in the fourth round today, he would be the sixth Bull taken in the fourth round. Linebacker Kawika Mitchell (second round, Kansas City 2003) is USF's only NFL draft pick selected before the fourth round.

If there were more backs taken, I would feel different.

The money for late 3rd to even the later part of the 4th is not much of a difference in money ... actually may give you more leverage on length of contract.

Everything will work out fine and knew he would be calm and professional about this. Sure he had his mind set ready for something like this.

Still suprised that only 8 backs were taken, but I did not study the draft as I normally do - living down here. Missed it and will get back into the groove next year.
