The story: After losing their record-setting 13th consecutive game, the Bulls will host the Scarlet Knights.

It’s the first of two games in which USF will face Rutgers in an eight-day span.

The Bulls played at Notre Dame on Wednesday where they were beaten 62-55.

USF led the Fighting Irish 5-0 to start the game but quickly gave up the lead as Notre Dame went on an 18-2 run. The Bulls have now lost eight Big East games by seven points or less.

Senior guard James Holmes scored a team-high 18 points in the loss, and senior center Solomon Jones (13 points, 12 rebounds) and junior forward McHugh Mattis (12 points, 11 rebounds) had their 11th and seventh double-double this season, respectively.

The Scarlet Knights, who are tied in the Big East standings with the Red Storm for the final spot in the conference tournament, have lost seven of their last nine games, including a 54-51 loss at home to St. John’s.

USF has faced Rutgers twice all time, and both games resulted in Bulls’ victories.

During USF’s losing streak, coach Robert McCullum has kept a positive attitude and said that he thinks his team will win a Big East game before the season ends.

“I still think we are (going to win a Big East game),†McCullum said after Wednesday’s loss. “I’m confident that we’ll come out for practice (Thursday) and Friday and work hard and prepare for Rutgers.â€Â

Keep an eye on: Mattis. Mattis is averaging 10.2 points and 7.8 rebounds a game. He has scored in double figures in 12 of the Bulls’ 24 games this season, including three of the last five.

hopefully next year a different coach will get us our first win. CRM is lost in the Big East. I guess we get what we pay for

Come on out to the game, no matter if you think the Bulls will or not win. Attendence seems to get worse and worse....(yes, I know there are reasons for this). The Bulls need all of you!
